The National Crime Prevention Council is based in the United States of America. NCPC's mission is to enable people to create safer and more caring communities by addressing the causes of crime and violence and reducing the opportunities for crime to occur. A national educational nonprofit, the nation's focal point for crime prevention information, the McGruff people: NCPC is all of these things and more.

Providing Visitors with Anonymous Access
The general public can access our Web sites' home pages and browse our public sites without disclosing personal data. Member of the Crime Prevention Coalition of America must have a log-in and password to access the Coalition site. Members who wish to request a log-in, please contact membership@ncpc.org.
Site services' impact on privacy
Our public sites do not enable visitors to communicate with other visitors. The membership-only site allows members to post information to be accessed by others, using log-in names; private information and personal contact information is never disclosed. Our Web sites do not include links to third party Web service providers.
Automatic Collection of Information
We do not automatically log personal data nor do we link information automatically logged by other means with personal data about specific individuals. We do not use cookies to store personal data nor do we link non-personal information stored in cookies with personal data about specific individuals.
Data Collection and Purpose Specification
We do not collect or use personal data for any purposes than those specified in this document. We do not collect information about our visitors from other sources, such as public records or bodies, or private organizations.
We may collect the personal data such as name and contact information that you may volunteer while using our sites. If we do so, this information will be used to respond to your requests or comments; in addition, with your permission, it will be used to send you information and notices of events that users of our sites may find of interest.
If we wish to use your personal data for a new purpose, we will offer you the means to consent to this new purpose via email (webmaster@ncpc.org) or by mail to the address given above.
Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children on any site other than mcgruff.org. Data collection on mcgruff.org is limited to first name and age for children responding to the "What should Scruff do" activity, contact information for children volunteering to act on the McGruff Advisory Board, and mail information for children requesting McGruff comics or other materials.
Information for children responding to "What should Scruff do" is insufficient for use in identifying or locating the children. Postings are reviewed before release to the Web; personal information is removed before release.
We protect the privacy of children volunteering for the Advisory Board by requiring authorization from a parent for collection of the child's personal data and use of the child's personal data for the Advisory Board.
We protect the privacy of children requesting comics or other materials by deleting mail information after labels are printed and materials are mailed.
Additionally, to ensure that children's privacy is respected on our Web site, we destroy data submitted without parental verification.
Disclosure and Visitor Choice
We do not disclose personal data to third parties under any circumstances.
Confidentiality / Security
NCPC employees and contractors who have access to or are associated with the processing of personal data are obliged to respect the confidentiality of our visitors' personal data. We ensure that personal data will not be disclosed to state institutions and authorities except if required by law or other regulation.
Access to the personal data we may hold about you
You can ask us whether we are keeping personal data about you by sending an email (webmaster@ncpc.org ) or by sending postal mail to the address above. If data about you is in our files, we will provide you with a readable copy within a month after you have provided proof of your identity. We will provide the information without any charge. You may request that we erase your personal data from our records. We do not reserve the right to refuse to provide you with a copy of your personal data.
