Neighborhood Safety Part 5

Happy Halloween! Are you going trick-or-treating tonight? If so, remember these tips. Draw a map of the path you will follow when trick-or-treating. At which houses will you stop? Only stop at houses with their outdoor lights on, and always use a flashlight. After trick-or-treating, go through your candy with your parents. Don't eat it all at once or you may get a stomach ache. Have fun and stay safe!

Tomorrow is Halloween. Are you going to wear a costume? If so, wear make-up instead of a mask so you can see well. Make sure you can walk in your costume without tripping on any fabric. Try to pick a costume that doesn't need toy weapons that could scare or hurt someone else.

When you are out in the neighborhood, you may find something dangerous. Maybe you see a weapon or drugs lying on the ground. If this happens, remember the safe people in your neighborhood who could help you, like a neighbor or police officer. Get away and ask one of these safe people for help.

When you are out in the neighborhood, walking to school or riding your bike, you may find a dangerous situation. Maybe an adult you don't know tries to talk to you. If this happens, get away to a safe place, like a school, neighbor's house, or library. When you are in a safe place, you can ask an adult there for help.

Where are the safe places in your neighborhood? Which people in your neighborhood could help you in an emergency? Talk with your parent about these questions. Draw a map of your neighborhood and include safe places you could go and safe people who could help you.

It's fun to be involved in activities after school. Maybe you could go to a community center, sing in a choir, or play on a sports team. But one thing you should never do is use drugs. You can your friends can have lots of fun without drugs. Remember, most kids don't use drugs.

There are lots of fun things you can do after school. You can draw pictures, do crafts, or color. But one thing you should never do after school is smoke cigarettes. You and your friends can have lots of fun without cigarettes. Remember, most kids don't smoke cigarettes.

It's very important to keep your body healthy. You can do many things to keep your body healthy. Good foods, such as vegetables, eggs, and cereal, help keep your body healthy. Playing tag with friends or playing on a sports team helps your body grow stronger. Another thing you can do is to stay away from alcohol, tobacco, and drugs.
